Reverse Osmosis—what is it?
When fresh water and saltwater are allowed to stand side by side separated by only a semi-permeable membrane the natural tendency is for the freshwater to flow through the membrane into the saltwater. In nature this is called osmosis. To reverse this natural process, pressure can be applied to the saltier side and force the freshwater through the membrane out of the concentrated saltwater. This is call reverse osmosis (RO) and is the basic principle by which Sweetwater produces good tasting drinkable water from the sea.

| Use Sweetwater Anywhere! —polluted ponds, seawater, brackish well water, bore holes …..even waters tainted with foul taste and odor. With certain adjustments Sweetwater may be used anywhere from the frigid waters of the North Atlantic to the murky tropical streams of South America. |
