MYCELX pre-treatment units protect onboard reverse osmosis systems. All reverse osmosis desalination systems utilize expensive membrane filtration units for the purification of sea water into potable water. When in or near harbour, the intake to the reverse osmosis system has a high probability of taking in oil and fuel contaminated feed water. The membranes will foul and fail in the presence of even a small amout of hydrocarbon contamination resulting in costly maintenance or replacement bills.

MYCELX Water Treatment Units can be used to ensure optimal performance and maximum service life in RO units in two ways: MYCELX units deployed before membrane units will protect membranes from fouling. Alternately, if membranes have already been fouled or degraded, MYCELX units may be used to augment performance.
